Halifax Health Medical Center — Daytona Beach
Halifax Health Medical Center is the primary regional hospital serving Volusia County, located in central Daytona Beach. The Level II Trauma Center provides emergency care, cardiac services, cancer care, orthopedics, and neurology for the entire Halifax area. Halifax Health also operates several outpatient campuses in Ormond Beach, Port Orange, and Palm Coast — making specialist appointments accessible across the region without driving to the main hospital.
AdventHealth Daytona Beach
AdventHealth Daytona Beach (formerly Florida Hospital) is a full-service acute care hospital on LPGA Boulevard in Daytona Beach. The hospital offers emergency services, surgical care, women's health, heart care, and imaging. AdventHealth also operates urgent care centers throughout Volusia County, including locations convenient to Ormond Beach and Port Orange residents. The Centura Health network affiliation means strong continuity for patients relocating from other AdventHealth markets.
Flagler Health+ — Palm Coast (Near Flagler Beach)
Flagler Beach residents are primarily served by Flagler Health+ in Palm Coast, about 10 minutes west of the beach. The hospital provides emergency care, orthopedics, cardiac care, and women's services. For major trauma or specialty care, Flagler County residents typically travel to Halifax Health in Daytona Beach or AdventHealth. The new Flagler Health+ campus is a significant upgrade over the prior Flagler Hospital facility.

Volusia County Schools
Volusia County Schools (VCS) is the public school district serving all of Volusia County, including Ormond Beach, Daytona Beach, Port Orange, and surrounding communities. The district operates over 100 schools serving approximately 62,000 students K–12. Notable schools in the Ormond Beach zone include Ormond Beach Elementary, Hinson Middle School, and Seabreeze High School. Daytona State College

The Flagler County Property Appraiser processes homestead exemptions. County services are centered in Bunnell (the county seat), with satellite offices in Palm Coast. Flagler County's smaller size generally means shorter wait times than Volusia County offices.

Volusia County Human Services provides assistance programs, senior services, veterans services, and community resources. The county seat for Volusia is DeLand, about 25 miles west of Daytona Beach, where the main courthouse and most county government offices are located. For federal services (Social Security, Medicare, passport applications), the nearest offices are in Daytona Beach and Palm Coast. Volusia County Public Library System
The Volusia County Public Library system operates over 15 branch locations throughout the county, including well-resourced branches in Ormond Beach, Daytona Beach, Port Orange, and New Smyrna Beach. The Ormond Beach Regional Library on East Granada Boulevard is one of the busiest branches and offers a full range of programs, digital resources, and community meeting rooms. New Resident Checklist
Within 30 Days of Moving

Internet installation appointments can book out 1–2 weeks in Florida's high-demand coastal areas. Natural gas accounts (where available) through TECO Peoples Gas can typically be transferred online. Having utilities active before moving in prevents complications — especially critical during Florida's summer heat.
Register to Vote & Update Addresses
Update your voter registration through the Volusia or Flagler County Supervisor of Elections website within 30 days of establishing residency. Update your address with the USPS, your bank, employer, and any federal agencies (Social Security, IRS, Medicare). Florida does not have state income tax — so no state tax registration is needed for most residents. If starting a business, the Florida Division of Corporations (Sunbiz.org) handles business entity registration.
